The day's academic and equestrian classes were over and she had bedded Shay down for the night. Cara knew that she should make an appearance in the cafeteria, but she just couldn't be bothered.
In the empty dorm room, she changed into her steel and lime long sleeve leotard, and pulled her school tracksuit over the top. Grabbing her dance bag, which worked as a gym bag for today, she headed out of the dorm and across campus toward the gymnasium.
Walking into the large building, she kept her hand on the door as it swung closed behind her, to stop the noise of a closing door from echoing in the empty gym. Kicking off her Mary Jane ballet flats, she picked them up and padded across the floor in bare feet as she headed toward the gymnastics studio.
Entering the studio, she placed her bag on the bench just inside the door and placed her shoes neatly on the floor under the bench. She then slipped out of the tracksuit, which she folded with the utmost care and placed carefully on the bench beside the bag.
Walking across the room, she headed to the floor exercise mat where she began to stretch out her muscles. Slipping down into the splits, she stretched out her legs, back and arms.
Once her warm-up was complete, she headed over to the beam. Standing on the springboard, she placed her hands on the end of the beam. Bending her knees, she sprung into the air - cringing at how loud the springboard sounded in the silent room - and came into a handstand on the beam. Doing the splits, she brought her foot down in a backwards walkover as she had done just before in the work-out room, and stuck a pose, she then went into a needle scale (an arabesque). She then stepped forward, swung her other leg forward and down toward the beam and bent into a bridge. Straightening up again, she did an illusion, followed by a cartwheel she then jogged forward a couple of steps and finished off with a double-back dismount, landing squarely on the mat with her arms thrown up.
