Summer arrived early to the class. She took a second-row seat in the small classroom. The school opted on smaller sized classrooms to make the difficult subject easier for the students to learn. A smaller classroom meant more attention from the teacher to the students. She smoothed out her white-blonde ponytail, trying to make herself look busy rather than awkward because the room was so empty (except for the teacher).

Morgan had made sure that this time he wasn't going to be late for anything. Grabbing a textbook from his bed, he took up a steady jog to the campus. Thank heavens he had kept running fit during the absence of riding, because otherwise he would have been in a big mess right now. There wasn't much that could be said for him taking a major in Veterinary Science, well right now it was more of a pre-vet study, before his full veterinary studies. Somewhat different than the studies in Wales, but he wanted to study in the States, it was just something that he wished to do.
Entering the campus, he started hunting down the science labs for his first class. He enjoyed the challenges of science and maths, his brain needing the exercise that some other subjects could not provide for him. Half in fear that he was late, and other half that he would be the first, he burst into the class, looking around and his cheeks flushing slightly. There was one more student there, and that was one that looked familiar. Deciding to go for the familiar, he placed himself in the seat next to her. You're on the equestrian team? he asked, smiling at her. I'm Morgan Lake, pleasure to meet you, he introduced himself with a grin.

Summer immediately decided that she liked this kid - not necessarily had a crush on him, but found him to be good mannered and charming. She quickly returned the smile and subconsciously began twirling with the end of her white-blonde ponytail.
"Yes, I'm on the equestrian team," she said, flashing a bright white smile again, "Pleasure to meet you too. Do you like XU so far?"
Summer quickly took in his dark green eyes, blonde hair, and his sense of style. He's stylish? That's uncommon, she thought. She wondered how old he was. He looked like a junior, but she wasn't sure.

Thanks to his gap year that he had taken, Morgan had been studying via correspondence for a few months. It was something that he enjoyed doing, but it made it so much harder to adjust to, when time zones became the problem. Once or twice he had gotten the times wrong, and his tasks had been a few hours late, but it had been fun. Now it was his first time to be in a real class and campus. It was fun, but he did miss the parties. The legal drinking age of 21 in the States was a b with an itch. Yeah, I do. It's fun, and different, he answered with a grin.
At nineteen, Morgan was ready to take on the world in more than just one way. Equestrian and his studies took priority right now, but there was always time for fun. He was wondering what the girl's name was when he realised that she was other rider that was being 'picked on' in the lesson the other day. You're Summer right? he asked, hoping that he was right. He had met a few people so far, and some he didn't know if he could trust completely.

Cara brushed down the jacket of the pantsuit that she was wearing, making sure that the bottom of the jacket sat straight. She then picked up her satchel and headed out of the dorm room and down toward North Campus where the science labs were and her next class, the smell of wild flowers surrounded her. As she entered the building, she lifted a hand to her head to make sure that her bun was still in it's proper place and none of the french plait had come loose from hair that was still slightly damp from her shower. Pleased that everything way the way it should be, she continued down to the science lab and walked into the room, a confidence surrounding her that she didn't feel - she was a brilliant performer though and could appear to be a rock even if she felt like the world was crumbling beneath her. In the room, she saw that Summer was already in a seat along with the older male whom had arrived late to their equestrian class. Nodding her head toward bot of them, she headed over to a seat in the front row. Sitting down she methodically began to get her table ready for class. In the centre of the desk she placed her folder, on the top right she placed her pencil case and the top left her glasses case was placed. Out of the pencil case, she removed a black, blue and red pen, each she set precisely at the top centre of the desk along with a writing pencil, eraser and pencil sharper. She then closed the satchel and tucked it under her chair. Now, she was ready for class to begin.

Summer quickly turned towards Cara as she entered the room. "Hi, Cara!" she greeted cheerily, "I'm so happy we have a class together!" She noticed how formally Cara was dressed. It's just college.... Summer thought. She turned her head back towards Morgan.
"Yes, I'm Summer," she said, blinking her long dark eyelashes. "Maybe we can study together for the tests in here sometime - I don't know about you, but I'm actually not a science person. At all. But I really want to have a career someday in equestrian science and medicine." Summer looked for the professor, who was at the moment talking to another student. Good. More time to talk, she thought.

Morgan nodded back to the girl that had just arrived, also recognising her from the Equestrian team lesson. The last person that had still needed to arrive was Sasha, but he sure hoped that she wasn't taking a degree with Science as one of the classes. For some reason the other girl just irritated the crap out of him. The new arrival, who Summer confirmed as Cara, seemed very uptight, and even for Morgan, he kinda just wanted to tell her to chill out. Summer suggested that they study together and he grinned at her. Sure, I'd like that. I'm studying Veterinary, pre-vet at the moment, but I've always known what I wanted to study, he said, liking Summer even more and more.
A glance at the teacher confirmed that even if he had been late, then it wouldn't have mattered much, because the other students in the class were taking up the man's time. You want to go for coffee after class? he asked, hoping that she would say yes. Summer was the one person he'd like to know better.

Cara picked up the black pen, unzipped the cover of her folder and opened it on the desk. Flipping through pages that were already filled with notes from her own research, she opened the ring, removed the empty pad and moved it to the front.
She still had no idea of what she wanted to do when she finished her education. So far she had shortlisted it down to working with animals or children, healing in some way, shape or form. But she was still young and all that could change in a heartbeat. With her slight frame, she also knew that there was the chance of her going on to become a prima ballerina, but she didn't know if she wanted to dance for her entire life. And the shelf-life of an elite gymnast only lasted as long as the athlete could hold out with the punishing training - she knew that she was already class as elite, but in her opinion she was nowhere near that status. She had no problem with the training as she'd been doing it all her life, but she didn't know if she wanted to make the rest of her life out of it. So, we go back to animals and children. Cara had the slightest inclination that she'd never have children, but she would like to be able to help children through all the trials and tribulations that life dealt out to them at time. She believed that was like a game of poker, and you never knew what you had until the cards were dealt.

Summer raised an eyebrow, surprised Cara had ignored her. Maybe she didn't here you, Summer thought, and quickly brushed it off.
Her blue eyes lit up at Morgan's suggestion of getting coffee. "Sure! I'd love to," Summer said, shutting herself up before sounding too desperate and cheery.
More students poured into the classroom.
The professor summoned the class's attention. Summer turned her head away from Morgan and listened to the professor lecture for the next 45 minutes, taking brief notes on what the professor said. Throughout the lecture, she continuously checked her time on her iPhone, eager to get out of the class and go get coffee. Not only because she wanted to hang out with Morgan, but this lecture was boring her to the point of tiredness!

Cara slipped her glasses on as the professor called the attention of the students, her pen poised over the paper.
For the duration of the class, Cara's pen worked furiously as she wrote down everything that the professor said. People had often joked in the past that she could write faster then most people could type, and get more words correct from what the speaker was saying.
The class wasn't as illuminating as she thought it would be, but she knew that it was another step in the direction of her finishing school, and finding the path she wished to take.

Morgan grinned as Summer accepted the invite for coffee, before returning his attention to the front. The professor was interesting, and Morgan took down extra notes as the time wore on. He was now in his own little world, the one where he enjoyed the class and the extra notes coming in helpful with the semester tests. Every now and then he would notice Summer looking at her phone and he smiled. Not everyone was a science geek like he was. They seemed to be few and far between, but Morgan was fine with the title. Science opened doors that few other subjects could, but it wasn't like he was going to take chemistry further. Veterinary was what he wanted to do.
Once the bell rang to indicate the end of the class, he wrote down one or two more notes, before putting down the pen. If anything, he would be suffering from Carpal Tunnel before the week was out. You ready to go? he asked Summer, packing away his books in the messenger bag.

Summer turned hear head towards Morgan, trying not to appear overly-excited. Because to Summer, appearing excited would seem desperate. "Yup, I'm ready!" Summer said, carefully packing everything up and putting it in her backpack. She zipped the backpack and put it over her right shoulder.
